DECOY: A move in which the actual spiker of the ball is disguised. This takes the opposing team by surprise. DIG: The act of reaching a ball spiked by the opponents and passing it to a teammate. DOUBLE HIT: An illegal move that implies that the same player has touched the ball twice in succession.
MINTONETTE – The original name of the game of volleyball, created by William Morgan. OFFSIDE BLOCK – Player at the net, which is on the side away from the opponent’s attack. OFF‐SPEED HIT – Any ball spiked with less than maximum force but with spin.
A volleyball game consists of two teams of six players each, separated by a net. The six volleyball court positions are setter, middle blocker, outside hitter, opposite hitter, libero and serving specialist. To start, flip a coin to determine which team serves the ball first.
